Nuvaring

NuvaRing is a combined contraceptive vaginal ring used to prevent pregnancy. Each ring contains a small amount of two female sex hormones, etonogestrel and ethinyl estradiol. The ring slowly releases these hormones into the bloodstream. Given the small number of hormones released, NuvaRing is a low-dose hormonal contraceptive.NuvaRing contains etonogestrel and ethinyl estradiol. Etonogestrel is a progestogen derived from 19-nortestosterone and has a high binding affinity to progesterone receptors in target organs. Ethinylestradiol is an estrogen widely used in contraceptive products. The contraceptive effect of NuvaRing is based on several mechanisms, the most important being the inhibition of ovulation.
