Valaciclovir

Valaciclovir is indicated for the treatment of herpes zoster (shingles). Valaciclovir accelerates pain resolution: reduces the duration and proportion of pain patients associated with zoster, which includes acute and post-herpetic neuralgia. Valaciclovir is also indicated to treat skin and mucous membrane infections due to herpes simplex, including recurrent and initial genital herpes. Valaciclovir is also indicated to treat cold sores. Valaciclovir is also indicated to prevent (suppress) recurrent herpes infections on the skin and mucous membranes, including genital herpes. Valaciclovir can reduce the transmission of genital herpes when taken as therapy. Suppressive and combined with safer sexual practices.
